JOB DESCRIPTION


The consultant has the overall responsibility for the preparation and implementation of the surveys, as well as the quality of deliverables, and will conduct the following tasks:

  • Participate in onboarding session on the use of tools and methodologies.
  • Participate in meetings with the VET Toolbox team at British Council and possibly with the wider consortium.
  • Develop the most effective survey methodology and format, aligned with the tracer study methodology and suggested survey developed by the VET Toolbox Team.
  • Prepare template and complete the MS Excel database for respondents.
  • Carry out data collection according to the agreed timeframe ensuring that the raw data is well structured and reported.
  • Prepare a survey report, including the main results and analysis as well as methodology.
  • Present the results to the British Council in a feedback session.

 

Deliverables

  • Survey methodology and concept for data collection.
  • Filled interviews, data, and feedback forms used, ideally transferred into one tool (e.g. QuestionPro).
  • Soft copies of the results.
  • Raw data information in Excel format.
  • Final survey report, including: Executive summary;
  • Description of methodology;
  • Experience in implementing the surveys;
  • Evaluation of each individual of the survey questions;
  • Main findings based on the results from both the employer perspective and the trainee perspective;
  • Annexes, questionnaires, plan of field work, list of people surveyed.
  • PowerPoint presentation to the British Council team at the end of the assignment.
  • The presentation should summarise main findings and recommendations of the assignment.

 

Timeline:  

The assignment will be conducted for up to 8 working days during March 2025. The exact dates will be agreed upon between the contractor and the British Council team.

Reporting and communication:

The consultant will report directly to the British Council team in Ghana. A soft copy of the draft final report is expected to be submitted by the consultant in MS Word format and via email by 31 March 2025. The final report is expected to be submitted no later than 15 April 2025. The British Council TVET Project Manager in Ghana will act as the focal point and provide facilitation and support where necessary, and through whom the consultant will liaise, discuss, and where possible solve any challenges encountered and report to during the implementation of the mission on a day-to-day basis.

 

Qualifications and experience required:

Expert profile

  • The desired consultant should have at least 5 years of experience in M&E. 
  • They must have experience with managing and supervising similar tracer study missions with a development agency or donor and with the use of quantitative and qualitative data collection tools. 
  • Previous experience undertaking a similar task on behalf of British Council or other international development partners would be an advantage.

 

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in data collection and follow-up/tracer studies;
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in both written and oral English;
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative data analysis and report writing;
  • Evidence of presence in Ghana.
  • Please note that we are only able to recruit an individual consultant and not a team of multiple consultants.
